D'you know how difficult it is to get a library card when you haven't got a proper address? And by proper I mean something other than "that broom closet in City Hall."

I know it's been a week, but I think I've finally gotten rid of all the leftovers. I'm glad everyone who came to Thanksgiving at Arches enjoyed it. It was a great time.

Izzy's in the hospital and guess what? I'm three for three on my nearest and dearest being invulnerable or whatever.

I am so fucking sick of this hospital, Alex.

"So you know what's insane?" Tony began when they finally fucking let him in to see her. "Being told 'family only' and then realising 'hey, I'm not only family I'm the next of kin.' I was all 'she's my girlfriend' when hey, you're my wife."

His tone was relaxed, laid back.

His expression was the polar opposite.

Tony! Get to [hospital] right away! I just saw them stuff Izzy in an ambulance. It looked like she was talking and stuff, so she's conscious. She was at the Space Needle. Not sure what happened.

    Closed Third Person
She didn't really mean to do it. Okay, it would have been insanely stupid if she'd meant to do it, but it was a mistake anyone could make, really.

Anyone who could fly, y'know. And couldn't control their flying when they were happy.

She'd been wandering around the Space Needle when the phone call came, telling her that her professor had loved one of her designs so much, he'd submitted it to a big named brand. And they wanted to mass produce it and sell it. Someone wanted her design on the catwalk and then on the rack in some prissy high-end store. Her designs.

She'd been flying - literally - when she realised she was far too close to the Space Needle - too close - and then hit it hard, the happiness disappearing.

And with it, her ability to fly.

She dropped to the ground, screaming, hitting the pavement within seconds.

By the time her heart restarted itself, her bones aligned themselves and she opened her eyes, she was about to be bagged. And then she was just being strapped down ("Just in case you damaged your spine," said a paramedic, which was stupid because she was pretty sure she had broken her spine) and rushed off to the hospital.

One more week of shows after this one and I'm officially on winter hiatus until mid-January.

Sevens aside I anticipate my usual fidgeting, Marissa and I have pretty much done everything we wanted to with the house.

I know it's not a seven but maybe we should organise a big Christmas dinner on the Complex too. Everyone I know who did Thanksgiving there had a great time and on the off chance the city did decide to leave us any gifts it might be safer.

    What do people think?

Aside from the turkeys that really was very nice.

And I got a tiny break from work. Not that I don't love my work - I do - but a break is always welcome.

I keep marveling at things like meals with my wife and holidays with my wife. I wonder how long it's like this?

    Anyone? Does this last?

I'm even looking forward to the impossible present quest.

Fernando had been really, really glad that he'd convinced his family to come to Arches for Thanksgiving. Still, he didn't think he was going to look at a turkey the same way again.

He was camped out at the cafe again during a break in classes. His glasses were shoved onto his forehead and he was scowling at his computer screen.

"Well that just doesn't make sense."

I have failed at coming up with an idea for you all for the holidays, so I'm reverting to an old favorite: If you would like a piece of holiday art, rep here and tell me what! I'm up for banners, icons, manips, practically anything! It could even not be game related if you prefer (gasp!).

I'm cross-posting this all over the place, so please be kind and only request once.

    prolix
    \proh-LIKS\
    adjective

1 : unduly prolonged or drawn out : too long
2 : marked by or using an excess of words

There's no way to talk about "prolix" without being redundant, verbose, and wordy. That's because the word is a synonym of all of those terms. Of those words, "prolix" is the one most likely to suggest unreasonable and tedious dwelling on details. It derives from prolixus, a Latin term meaning "extended" or "copious." Prolixus originated from a combination of the prefix pro- (which means "forward") and the past participle of liquēre, a verb meaning "to be fluid." True to that history, something that is prolix flows on and on.

I do believe I have a tendency to resemble this remark. Although I hope that my attention to details is neither unreasonable nor tedious.

Is it wrong to think it would have been fun to pit the rabid turkeys against the rabid shoppers on Black Friday?

Cameron was just a little bit late, throwing Tommy a sheepish smile as he joined him at the table. "One of the kids was having a rough day, got kinda tied up. Sorry."

Most days I have a sort of not-quite-acceptance about things that allows me to be functional in the present and not pissed off at the past or terrified of the future. Most days.

Then there are days like today when I end up with a kidney infection that doens't hurt (because I can't feel it) but does make me close to incontinent and miserable, and a visit with a doctor who insists on shoving the risks of pressure sores and loss of bone density down my throat.

Then I'm not functional because I'm pissed off at everything and terrified that I'm going to live long enough to *have* a future.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is my weekly whine.
